I don't know if that has any bearing on the LAN multiplayer capabilities, but it seems pertinent.Īny help would be greatly appreciated and uhhhh, keep on rocking in the rainy world.Ask a question Submit memes/shitposts Hide Spoilers Daily Question Thread | Read our Wiki | Join our Discord | 2022 GotY Results | Send a ModMail We are trying to play on a Switch and a Switch Lite.(Obviously we both had the full game installed on each system.) The reason I'm mentioning this is because a few months ago my son talked me into trying to start our (single) digital copy of Dragonball FighterZ on both Switches, and I was skeptical it would work, and lo and behold, it worked?!? So I don't know what to make of that. but this is already my second copy of the game, and who wants to spend more money that they don't have to?) It stands to reason that the entirety, if not the bulk of the game is on the cartridge, and this would be reason enough not be able to run it on two systems, but it did install a 1.6 GB "update" which knowing how compressed Switch games tend to be (my Steam install is 3 GB), I feel like it could conceivably be the whole game. Obviously, I could just grab a digital version and we could do online multiplayer, and support the hell out of Hopoo Games. (This was before I saw it was on sale for $10 on the Nintendo Shop, haha, but I didn't pay a whole lot more than that and I don't think the digital version comes with the first RoR-correct me if I'm wrong. If so, disregard the following questions.) Does local multiplayer require two copies of the game? (Kind of defeats the purpose of local multiplayer, but I figured it was worth an ask.Relevant facts (I don't know if any of this matters, but here goes): So if someone could write up a tediously clear (but be as succinct as you feel you need to haha) guide for how to play this game via Local Multiplayer on two Switches, I would greatly appreciate it. If I'm not mistaken, there's supposed to be a context menu in-game to "invite friends" (or a context menu in the friends screen to "join game.") As far as I can tell we've got neither of those options. Anyway, I'm at a loss for how to set this up/get it to work communicating between the two consoles. It took me longer than I would have liked to figure out how to play one of his Switch games on my own profile despite our profiles being linked, because of the frigging DRM/primary console nonsense. I'm a bit of a rube when it comes to the Switch. So I saw there was local multiplayer (LAN multiplayer) support in one of the updates and went ahead and got it. I've been playing it on PC for a month or so, I absolutely love it, and wanted to play co-op with my son. I've seen several threads discussing Local Multiplayer for Risk of Rain 2, but most of them seemed to be asking about/for split-screen support and none that I've seen have answered this specific question, so please bear with me if this has been asked and answered before. ![]()
